Elodie 'Balayes de la main du hasard' LP
Elodie is the remarkably fruitful and productive duo of Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luijk. Balayes De La Main Du Hasard, their ninth full length release since 2011, is a stunning example of what makes this collaboration so striking. While both Chalk and Van Luijk focus heavily on electronic ambience within their solo efforts, Balayes De La Main Du Hasard ventures further afield - drawing heavily on the pallets of a diverse range of more traditional acoustic and electric instrumentation - percussion, wind, strings, vibraphone, piano, organ, etc. The album’s six works are an interlocked sequence of slow progressions of delicate mood - the penetrations of sadness with hints of light. Mediations on the diverse interactions of source and intent, which construct a series of rippling ambiances, far removed from the sort possible within the purely electronic realm - Soundohm.
